Manifesta

De foto is een videostill van de shooting van The Only Possible City, een productie van Raqs Media Collective en Damaged Goods voor de biënnale voor hedendaagse kunst Manifesta die dit jaar plaatsvond in de Italiaanse regio Trentino-Zuid-Tirol. De titel van de video werd ontleend aan Giorgio Agamben: ‘The face is at once the irreparable being-exposed of humans and the very opening in which they hide and stay hidden. The face is the only location of community, the only possible city.'

De video werd in zes dagen tijd gedraaid in een fabriekspand. Meg Stuart schreef vooraf: ‘What's in the timing of things? In the Allumix factory, I in the information file, clocks and electronic devices did not work, because of the magnetic fields? Every work is made under the specifics of a time regime. To choreograph is to come to terms with that regime. To dance is to traverse it.'
